Travel
Ryan represents clients throughout North America and Europe; and we require employees to travel. Although most of our clients are in the Greater Toronto Area, there are an increasing number of clients in other Canadian and US cities and in smaller communities throughout North America and Europe. Depending on the position, it is impossible to predict who will travel where, but we can estimate that our tax consultants spend 20% of their time outside of their metropolitan area at client sites.
Position Summaries
Ryan's career path is similar to other consulting firms, but the opportunity for high performers to accelerate their career growth through the following positions is unmatched in the industry:
Account Executive
The Account Executive is a sales professional who is responsible for marketing all of Ryan’s service offerings, conducting client meetings and negotiating engagements to prospective and existing clients within a specified geographical region, often in concert with subject experts from various tax areas. A University Degree or College Diploma is required along with a minimum of five years sales experience at predominately the C-suite level.
Senior Tax Advisor
The Senior Tax Advisor requires more than eight years of senior financial experience that is typically gained through consulting or financial positions generally at the Manager level or higher. Senior Tax Advisors must demonstrate expertise in most areas of tax when providing guidance on tax questions, project work and tax seminars to our clients. Minimum qualifications include a College Diploma or University Degree along with a professional accounting designation.
Consultant
The Consultant position is a key position at Ryan. Consultants typically have more than ten years of experience in a finance related position, generally at the Controller level or higher. Minimum qualifications include a College Diploma or University Degree and a professional accounting designation.
Manager
Managers are typically responsible for managing teams of various sizes and must have exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrated expertise, and an intense commitment to Ryan. Additionally, Managers have developed professional negotiating and presentation skills utilized regularly in meetings with clients and representatives of taxing authorities.
Director
Directors are typically responsible for managing teams of various sizes. Directors are also responsible for marketing services to prospective clients and generally oversee all of the projects completed by the Firm, be it recovery or advisory. Many of our Directors speak publicly at international, national, regional, and local tax conferences.
Principal
A Principal is responsible and accountable for each of our client engagements. Directors and Managers report to a Principal for each of their engagements. Principals develop the strategic vision of our Firm and are responsible for tactically executing our vision.
